<p>A display device (10), which is provided with a display panel (11) such as a liquid crystal panel, is combined with a backlight device (20). The backlight device is provided with a metal chassis (21), a light guide plate (23) that is arranged at the back of the display panel, and a light source (25) that irradiates an end face of the light guide plate with light. A heat insulating member (26) is arranged between the chassis and an optical member that comprises the light guide plate, and the chassis is in direct contact with the optical member at a position near the light source. The chassis is provided with a projected portion (21a) that defines the position where the heat insulating member is arranged, and the projected portion is in contact with the optical member. The heat insulating member is affixed to the chassis with an adhesive element that has low thermal conductivity.</p> |
