<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal alignment film extremely excellent in aligning property for a liquid crystal cell, an appearance of the liquid crystal cell and transparency, and achieving both of a low coefficient of thermal expansion and cost reduction, and to provide a liquid crystal aligning agent capable of achieving the above excellent effects. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal aligning agent comprises a block polyamide acid imide, which includes a block comprising a repeating structural unit represented by specified formula (1A) and a block comprising a repeating structural unit represented by specified formula (1B).
