摘要 Provided is a positive electrode active material for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, having excellent cycle properties even when charged at high voltages. Also provided is a method for producing same. A lithium-containing composite oxide that contains a transition metal element is brought into contact with a composition (1), and after obtaining particles (I) to which a compound containing a metal element (M) is adhered, is mixed with a compound that generates HF as a result of heating and is heated, to obtain particles (III) having a coating layer (II) that contains a metal element (M) and a fluorine element on the surface of a lithium-containing composite oxide. Composition (1) is obtained by dissolving or dispersing in a solvent a compound that does not contain elemental Li, but that contains at least one metal element (M) selected from a group consisting of Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Y, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Pb, Cu, Zn, Al, In, Sn, Sb, Bi, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Gd, Dy, Er and Yb.
