METHOD FOR CONCENTRATING AN AQUEOUS SILICON DIOXIDE DISPERSION

<p>The invention relates to a method of concentrating an aqueous silicon dioxide dispersion comprising the steps of: a) providing an aqueous dispersion comprising silicon dioxide particles having an initial content of silicon dioxide; b) contacting the dispersion of step a) with a creaming agent to yield an aqueous serum phase and an aqueous concentrated phase, the serum phase having a silicon dioxide content lower than the initial content of silicon dioxide in the dispersion of step a) and the concentrated phase having a silicon dioxide content higher than the initial content of silicon dioxide in the dispersion of step a); and c) separating the serum phase from the concentrated phase, wherein the dispersion of step a) does not comprise organic polymer particles of polychloroprene and/or polyurethane. The invention also relates to a concentrated aqueous silicon dioxide dispersion obtainable by the method, and the use thereof as an adhesive.</p>
