ANTIOXIDANT COMPOSITION COMPRISING ENZYMATIC EXTRACTS OF UMBILICARIA ESCUENTA AND THE COMPOUNDS ISOLATED THEREFROM

PURPOSE: An enzymatic extract of umbilibaria escuenta or antioxidant composition with excellent antioxidant effects and free radical scavenging ability containing a compound therefrom as an active ingredient are provided to be safe for taking for long period. CONSTITUTION: An antioxidative composition includes enzymatic extract of umbilibaria escuenta or 1-deoxy castanospermine or 6- methyluracil based compound represented by chemical formula A or B as active ingredients. The enzymatic extract of umbilibaria escuenta is obtained by protein processing or sugar hydrolysing umbilibaria escuenta in a buffer solution having pH of 2.0-8.0 at the reaction temperature of 30-80 deg. Celsius and for the reaction time of 6-10 hours. The protease is one or more kinds selected from a group consisting of protamex, flavourzyme, neutrase, alcalase,α-chymotrypsin, pepsin, trypsin and papain.
