<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for an alkaline secondary battery capable of improving the cycle life characteristics of a battery, and an alkaline secondary battery using the negative electrode. <P>SOLUTION: A strip negative electrode 26 forming an electrode group 22 with a positive electrode 24 and a separator 28 comprises a substrate, and a negative electrode mixture layer covering both sides of the substrate and containing a large number of hydrogen-storing alloy particles. The negative electrode 26 comprises a main part 56 both sides of which face the positive electrode 24 through the separator 28 in a rolled state where the negative electrode forms the electrode group 22 with the positive electrode 24 and the separator 28, and an outermost peripheral part 50 and an innermost peripheral part 58 extending from the ends of the main part 56 in the rolled direction, in which only one of the both sides faces the positive electrode 24 through the separator 28. The hydrogen-storing alloy particles in the outermost peripheral part 50 and the innermost peripheral part 58 have an average particle size larger than the average particle size of the hydrogen-storing alloy particles in the main part 56. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
