The musical instrument comprises a system of interrelated sound-producing units in which each unit is designed to generate one main sound frequency and is coordinated on this frequency with the sound frequencies generated by the other units. The number of sound-producing units, the principle for coordinating the sound-producing units according to the sound frequencies generated, the marking of the units on the instrument and the spatial arrangement of the sound-producing units within the system are determined on the basis of producing a discrete set of monochromatic sounds which forms a pentagrammic stepped Fibonacci musical scale based on a geometric progression with a Fibonacci number of members in this progression and a progression factor k that is equal to the square of the golden ratio f2, where f = (1+50.5)/2. The relationship of the sound frequencies of adjacent sound-producing units in the scale is represented by irrational numbers expressed by the value of the golden ratio. The result is an increase in the functional capabilities of the musical instrument as a result of a system of sound-producing units that is based on the use of a novel type of musical scale for creating works with new melodic and harmonic solutions.
