<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal transmission device capable of securely transmitting abnormality in one circuit to another circuit while insulating two circuits to solve the problem that, if an abnormality detection period of a driver chip is too short, after pulse generation of an abnormality pulse signal is stopped, the pulse generation of the abnormality pulse signal is resumed before the abnormality determination period passes and it may be impossible to recognize the abnormality of the driver chip by a controller chip, and to provide a motor driving device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: A signal transmission device 100 transmits a signal while insulating between a first circuit 110 and a second circuit 120. The first circuit 110 determines the presence or absence of abnormality in the second circuit 120 by monitoring an abnormality pulse signal Sb transmitted from the second circuit 120.
