PURPOSE: A multilayer ceramic electronic element and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent the penetration of the foreign substance by using a protective layer between an expose surface and an outer electrode. CONSTITUTION: A body portion(110) comprises an inner electrode and a dielectric layer. The body portion has a contact surface exposing a part of the inner electrode. An outer electrode(140) is combined to the contact surface. The outer electrode is electrically connected to the inner electrode. A protective layer(115) shields a part of the exposed inner electrode.
