FAILURE DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS FOR FUEL INJECTION VALVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an operation failure of a needle in a fuel injection valve in which the needle can be rotated in a fuel injection valve body about the central axis thereof.

SOLUTION: A failure diagnostic apparatus diagnoses whether a failure is in the fuel injection valve that includes a needle rotating means for rotating the needle stored in the fuel injection valve body about the central axis thereof and can change a fuel injection amount injected in an identical injection period and a shape of injected fuel spray by changing a rotation position of the needle by the needle rotating means. The failure diagnostic apparatus determines whether an operation failure of the needle occurs or not based on a variation in an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust that is emitted when the rotation position of the needle is changed by the needle rotating means.
