[Class 144 (i).] In a wire wheel having the spokes of the series crossed between the hub and rim, the inner or outer ends of these spokes are secured to axially-spaced flanges on the hub or rim. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the inner spokes are line-welded to axially, and radially, spaced flanges 16, 20, the inner ends of the outer spokes 12 being welded alternately to the opposite sides of the hub-flange 22. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the spokeconnections are all concealed within the hub. In this form, the attachment-flange 25 has pressed-up portions 31 welded to the hub-barrel 10<1>.
