ELEVATOR AND METHOD FOR REPAIRING ELEVATOR

This elevator is provided with: a main rope which is wound on a drive sheave, is passed through the floor of the machine room and suspended within the hoistway, and has one end and the other end which are affixed to the upper part of the hoistway in such a manner that the main rope is reversed through loop sections; a pair of suspension sheaves respectively supported by the loop sections; a car and a counterweight respectively having support frames; connection devices respectively providing the connection between one of the suspension sheaves and the car and between the other suspension sheave and the counterweight; and pairs of guide rails respectively provided to the car and the counterweight and respectively controlling the movement of the car and the movement of the counterweight. Each of the connection devices is disposed so as to bridge each of the pairs of guide rails and has a pair of contact sections which are located at both ends of the connection device and which are made to be in contact with the pair of guide rails at different positions in height. The suspension sheaves are connected so as to be rotatable about horizontal axes and are provided with restriction bodies for supporting the support frames.
