The furniture has a back plate (2) vertically displaceable on a base body (3) and fixed over a vertical connection unit (8) in a desired vertical position. A worktop (1) is swingably connected with the plate over a pivoting device (4) e.g. metal hinge, and fixable in a selectable swivel position over a pivotal connection unit (7). The pivoting device is provided in a region of an upper edge (5) of the plate and in a region of a rear edge (6) of the worktop. The worktop is swingable from vertical position to horizontal position around a pivotal axis of the pivoting device.
