<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a syringe enabling an initial aspiration for the confirmation of the distal end position of a needle without accompanying the retrusion of a plunger. <P>SOLUTION: A syringe 1 comprises a barrel 2 with a plunger 3 in slidable and sealing engagement therein, and a needle attached to one end of the barrel 2. The barrel 2 has aspiration means 13 in the form of manually-operable resilient portions 13, which can be operated to cause a pressure differential in the barrel 2, the pressure differential then being used to perform aspiration.
