<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplification circuit in a pixel row capable of performing high-gain amplification with a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a solid-state imaging device in which an imaging region including a plurality of pixel rows and a plurality of row amplifier circuits provided for one or more of said plurality of pixel rows are arranged on a semiconductor substrate. Each of the row amplifier circuits includes at least two stages of amplifier circuits. An input-stage amplifier circuit is a gain-variable amplification circuit, and a switchable gain includes a plurality of gains of 1 or greater.
