PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate specification of a destination by a user in services providing information about a user's destination.

SOLUTION: A portable information terminal 10 takes an image of a map to acquire the map image. A navigation server 12 refers to a storage area storing identification symbols of landmarks recorded in the map and actual locations of the landmarks in association to specify actual locations of respective landmarks according to the respective identification symbols of the plurality of landmarks recorded in the map image acquired by the portable information terminal 10. The navigation server 12 acquires a user's destination in the map image to specify an actual location of the destination according to the respective actual locations of the plurality of landmarks. The portable information terminal 10 presents the user with information about the destination corresponding to the actual location of the destination specified by the navigation server 12.
