<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently transmit application data for defining a necessary part of a drive signal applied to an element. <P>SOLUTION: This liquid ejecting apparatus includes: a drive signal generation part; a basic application data transmission part; an application data generation part; and a drive signal application part. The drive signal generation part generates a drive signal for driving an element performing operation for ejecting liquid. The basic application data transmission part transmits, in parallel to one another, basic application data used as a base of application data for defining a necessary part of the drive signal applied to the element and each having a predetermined type and a predetermined number of bits. The application data generation part generates application data having types smaller than the predetermined types and each having a number of bits larger than the predetermined number of bits based on the basic application data.
