<p>Provided are an ion generator and an ion generating method, each of which efficiently releases ions that are generated by an electrical discharge into a space. This ion generator comprises a discharge electrode (1, 1b) and an induction electrode (2, 2b) that faces the discharge electrode (1, 1b), and is provided with a direct-current power supply (3, 3b) that applies a direct-current voltage to the discharge electrode (1, 1b) and a pulsed power supply (4, 4b) that applies a first voltage, at which an electrical discharge occurs between the induction electrode (2, 2b) and the discharge electrode (1, 1b), or a second voltage, at which the electrical discharge stops, to the induction electrode (2, 2b). This ion generator is characterized in that the second voltage has the same polarity as the direct-current voltage that is applied to the discharge electrode (1, 1b).</p> |
