PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which effectively uses a limited buffer capacity, and is user-friendly even when any of sequential shooting speed and image quality is required. SOLUTION: It is determined which of the image quality and processing speed is prioritized by referring to a setting regarding imaging. Then, when it is determined that the image quality is prioritized, the number of image buffers to be assigned to a memory is reduced than in the case where it is determined that the processing speed is prioritized. The number of quantization bits of an A/D converter which quantizes a pixel signal is increased than in the case where it is determined that the processing speed is prioritized.
