PURPOSE: A safety valve for a portable gas container is provided to prevent the explosion of a gas container by emitting overpressure gas in the gas container to the outside when the internal pressure of the gas container is excessively increased by increased outdoor temperature. CONSTITUTION: A safety valve for a portable gas container comprises a safety valve housing(21), a stopper(22), a shaft(23), a spring(26), a support member(24), and a gasket(25). A through-hole is formed at the bottom of the safety valve housing. The opened top of the safety valve housing is welded at the bottom of a mounting cup. The outer periphery of the stopper is thread-coupled to the inner periphery of the safety valve housing. A through-hole is formed at the center of the stopper. The top of the shaft is inserted in the through-hole of the stopper to be hung on the top of the stopper. The bottom of the shaft is inserted in the through-hole of the safety valve housing. The spring is fitted in the shaft. The top of the support member is positioned at the bottom of the spring and is positioned on the top of outward protrusions formed in the lower part of the shaft.
