<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reaction method and an apparatus therefor, in each of which an organic reactive substrate is reacted with a reactant while interposing a permselective membrane between them to synthesize a product efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: The reaction apparatus is used for reacting the organic reactive substrate with the reactant in the presence of a catalyst while using carbon dioxide as a medium and constituted so that a flow passage of reactant-containing carbon dioxide, a flow passage of organic reactive substrate-containing carbon dioxide and the permselective membrane for selectively permeating the reactant are arranged so that the reactant can be permeated into the other flow passage through the permselective membrane and the catalyst is made to exist in a reaction zone where the organic reactive substrate is reacted with the reactant permeated selectively through the permselective membrane. This reaction apparatus is used in the reaction method. As a result, a reaction excellent in selectivity of the product can be performed under a mild reaction condition, in high yield and in a short time.
