<p>The tensioner for threaded members includes a base 1 and a piston 2 defining a pressure space 12 therebetween. The base and piston are arranged to be urged apart upon introduction of a fluid into the pressure space. A thread-engaging member 3 includes a body portion 8 in the form of a sleeve and having a threaded interior 17 for engagement with a threaded member 30 (to be tensioned) and a flange portion 9 carrying a flange 10. The piston portion 2 bears against the flange 10 such that it exerts a force on the flange when urged apart from the base portion 1. A containment component 4 is arranged to restrict relative movement of the flange portion 9 and the body portion 8 should the flange portion and body portion separate, the containment component being fixed to the piston 2.</p> |
