Rotating nozzle assemblies for injecting gas into molten metal

A first rotating nozzle assembly (Fig. 12) for injection of gas into molten aluminium comprises a rotatable shaft on which are located a plurality of blades 281 extending from the shaft. At the end of the shaft is a ring 280 which projects beyond the blades 281 and comprises apertures 282 which coincide with gaps between the blades 281. A second rotating nozzle assembly (Fig. 3) for injection of gas and flux into molten aluminium comprises rotor shaft 161 located in an elongate hollow stator 162, with a rotor 167 being located on the end of the rotor shaft 161. An annular passageway 164 between the internal wall of the stator 162 and the rotor shaft 161 facilitates gas discharge at or near the top of the rotor 167. A central passageway 163 extending along the rotor shaft 161 facilitates gas and flux discharge at the bottom of the rotor 167.
