Brake disc stack having an associated torque tube with a spline extending axially from a back leg of the tube

A brake disk stack including a torque tube 104 having a first axial end and a second axial end, a back leg 102 near a first axial end of the torque tube, and at least one circumferentially disposed spline 106 extending from the back leg towards the second axial end of the torque tube 104. The splines 106 may be disposed asymmetrically or symmetrically about the axis of the torque tube. Preferably there may be some splines in contact with the back leg and some spines not in contact with the back leg (fig 3). The splines may support a pressure plate or a stator disc. The apparatus mitigates whirl in an aircraft braking system.
