PURPOSE: A data transmission method and apparatus thereof are provided to enable an M2M(machine-to-machine) apparatus to effectively transmit an SMS(short message service) message in an idle mode. CONSTITUTION: When an M2M SMS request is approved by a BS(base station), an M2M device transmits a second ranging request message based on a basic CID(charge injection device)(S222). The second ranging request message includes an M2M SMS. The M2M device receives the second ranging request message from the BS(S223). The second ranging response message includes M2M SMS confirmation which determines the success of message reception in the BS.
