PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus which carries out printing while holding paper between a printing head and platen roller, whose structure is simplified and which is made compact. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus configured to carry out printing on paper with the printing head 112, while holding the paper between the printing head 112 and the platen roller 114, includes: a paper guide block 113 guiding the paper to a part between the printing head 112 and the platen roller 114, and holding the platen roller 114; and an energizing member 115 for energizing the paper guide block 113 or the printing head 112 so that the paper guide block 112 or the printing head 113 is pressed. The paper guide block 113 is turnably held by a frame 111, and is pressed by the energizing member 115 toward the printing head 112. The frame 111 and paper guide block 113 are provided with U-shaped grooves engaged with the rotary shaft of the platen roller 114.
