PURPOSE: A system and a method thereof are provided to determine the health state of an electrochemical battery cell by measuring the charge state thereof directly or indirectly, and non-invasively. CONSTITUTION: A sensing device(30) measures the magnetic susceptibility of a battery cell. A processing device(60) calculates the health state value of the battery cell based on the measured magnetic susceptibility.
