Thermo-electric batteries. - A piezo-electric pyro-electric body is made by subjecting finely divided solid material, for exampe quartz powder, to an electric field to cause the particles to take up a definite direction with respect to their electric moments. The particles are bound together by strong heating and high pressure, or by a binding-material, such as paraffin wax, or by both means. The dielectrics are made in thin layers which are provided with electrodes and arranged in parallel or series to increase the piezo-electric or pyro-electric activity.</p> |
