The present invention relates to a high-current contact element for electrically contacting and mechanically connecting the high-current contact element with a corresponding mating contact by means of a contact surface (A) of the high-current contact element. The existing technical problems are solved in that the high-current contact element forms the mechanical connection in an automatically reinforcing manner as the temperature of the high-current contact element rises due to the current flow. An electrical connection comprising a high-current contact element and a mating contact is also provided according to the invention.
