The present invention provides a solid cosmetic composition comprising a vegetable butter wherein the solid composition has dispersed therein gas bubbles, and wherein the gas bubbles form at least 20% of the volume of the solid cosmetic composition. The composition may be a mixture of two or more vegetable butters, preferably cocoa butter and shea butter. The composition may further comprise a fragrance. A process for the production of the solid composition is also claimed, wherein the process comprises melting one or more vegetable butters, applying a pressure reduction to the melted butter such that gas bubbles are formed within the one or more melted vegetable butters, and allowing the mixture to solidify. Cosmetic methods comprising contacting the skin of a user with the aerated composition (e.g. during massage) are also claimed. |
