PURPOSE: A method for controlling an IGS system is provided to improve fuel efficiency as an engine stops only when vehicles stops over pre-set time according to traffic signal information from telematics. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an IGS system comprises following steps. Information on present situations of a road and changes in a traffic light is received using a telematics communications network(S210). The operation of the IGS system is controlled on the basis of the present situations of the road and changes in the traffic light(S241,S250).
