PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing antibacterial hydrogel using Coptis chinensis FRANCH extract is provided to promote wound healing and to enhance antibacterial function. CONSTITUTION: Antibacterial hydrogel using Coptis chinensis FRANCH extract contains polyvinyl alcohol, succinic acid, and carboxyl methyl cellulose in a weight ratio of 10:0.5-1.9:2-4. The antibacterial hydrogel contains 0.1-60 wt% of the Coptis chinensis FRANCH extract based on total weight of polyvinyl alcohol, succinic acid, and carboxyl methyl cellulose. The extract is a hot water extract. The antibacterial hydrogel is used for wound healing and sterilizing. The antibacterial hydrogel is used as a medical material.
