PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for storing image data according to detection of source frame error are provided to reduce the size of storage capacity required for source image failure by generating an event about failure when the source image failure is generated. CONSTITUTION: If a source image failure is generated, a network video record system generates a source image failure event. The starting and finishing time of the source image failure event are recorded in the source image failure event. If the source image is normal, an image data saving apparatus generates an image stream by binary encoding of the image screen. The image data saving apparatus stores the source image failure event or the image stream.
