APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR GENERATING HOLOGRAM

PURPOSE: A hologram formation apparatus and a method thereof are provided to reduce the quantity of data by grouping a three-dimensional input image in a block shape. CONSTITUTION: A block map extractor(110) groups block pixels from an input image including a target based on a brightness value or a depth value. The block map extractor extracts the obtained block map. A hologram information generator(120) generates hologram information from the extracted block map by using an NxN PFP(Principle Fringe Pattern) stored in an LUT(LookUp Table). A hologram generator(130) generates a hologram related to the target by using the generated hologram information.
