[Class 44.] A fastening for windows or doors comprises two parts each having two hinged leaves, one leaf of each hinge being secured to either sash 1, 11, of a window. A fixed leaf 2 of one hinge has an upstanding part 3 with two notches 4 in the vertical sides. The free leaf 6 has a projection 8 which enters a slot 13 in the fixed leaf 12 when the leaf 6 is folded downwards. Slots 5 and 10 then coincide and are entered by a lug 17 on the leaf 14. Slots 9, 16 co-operate with the projection 3. In the closed position the leaf 14 lies on the leaf 6 and a cranked locking lever 18 is swung around its pivot on the leaf 6 so that a notch 20 co-operates with a notch 4 to secure the lever Fig. 3 shows the window partly open and secured by the cooperation between the lugs on the edges of the free leaves, which are held by the hinged lever 18. In an arrangement for casement windows each free leaf 6, 14 is bent at right angles between the hinge and the tip of each leaf, and the hinges are hung vertically. A washer may be inserted between the lever 18 and the leaf 6 instead of cranking the arm. As applied to attachÚ cases, the lever 18 may be dispensed with, and a lock provided instead. |
