Disclosed are signal peptides produced by the bacteriocin-producing bacteria Lactobacillus salivarius, Enterococcus faecium and Streptococcus cricetus, which stimulate the production of bacteriocins in vitro. The producer bacteria are cultured in the presence of inducer bacteria and a signal peptide having a carboxy terminal sequence VKGLT to increase the production of a bacteriocin.
