Disclosed is an insulin analogue comprising a B-chain polypeptide incorporating a halogenated phenylalanine at position B24, B25 or B26 wherein the halogenated phenylalanine is an ortho-, meta- or para- monohalogenated-phenylalanine at position B24, or is an ortho- or meta- monohalogenated-phenylalanine at position B25, or is an ortho-, meta- or para- monohalogenated-phenylalanine at position B26. Further disclosed are nucleic acids comprising a sequence that encodes said insulin analogues and uses thereof in the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for administration to a patient for the lowering of the blood sugar level of the patient.
