PURPOSE: A system for operating a cooling fan in a vehicle is provided without an oil cooler, hose, and a pipe as mechanical energy is not converted into thermal energy when a retarder is operated. CONSTITUTION: A system for operating a cooling fan in a vehicle a hydraulic retarder, an oil tank(40), a swash plate type of a variable hydraulic piston pump(50), a pressure storage unit(60), a hydraulic motor(70), and a cooling fan(80). The variable hydraulic piston pump is operated by the rotator of the hydraulic retarder, and pumps the hydraulic pressure of the oil tank. The pressure storage unit stores the pressure of oil pumped by the hydraulic piston pump. The hydraulic motor is operated by the fluid stored by the pressure storage unit. The cooling fan rotates according to the hydraulic motor.
