<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery containing a positive electrode active material composed of two kinds of active materials of different particle sizes, excellent in cycle characteristics, and resistant to battery swelling during high-temperature storage. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a positive electrode plate containing a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode plate containing a negative electrode active material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode active material contains positive electrode active materials A and B represented by the formula: Li<SB POS="POST">a</SB>Co<SB POS="POST">1-x</SB>M<SB POS="POST">x</SB>O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, where 0<a≤1.1, 0≤x≤0.1, and M represents at least one of Zr, Ti, Mg, and Al. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains 0.05-0.2 mass% of a dinitrile compound represented by the formula: CN-R-CN, where R represents a C2-C8 straight-chain hydrocarbon radical. The positive electrode active material A has a larger average particle size than the positive electrode active material B, and 0.01-0.2 mol% of at least one kind of compound selected from hydroxides and oxyhydroxides of rare-earth elements adheres to the surface of the positive electrode active material A. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
