<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem of a power generation system: when geothermal heat is used for power generation, the system is available only in the area where the geothermal heat can be obtained. <P>SOLUTION: This power generation system includes a heat pump having a compressor, a generator for supplying electric power by power of a turbine to be driven by energy of a working medium heated and vaporized by the heat pump, a circulating means for sending out the working medium from the turbine, and a control part. An organic compound whose absolute saturated vapor pressure in 90°C is 0.3 MPa or more is used as the working medium. CO2 is used as a refrigerant. A scroll turbine or a screw turbine is used as a turbine. Inlet pressure that is a pressure of the working medium in an inlet is set to the saturated vapor pressure or less of the working medium in the inlet temperature. Sum electric power as a sum of compressor driving electric power, circulating means driving electric power and control part electric power for the control part is supplied.
