A crushing and drying device (10) comprising: a supply port for items to be processed (30) that supplies items to be processed (O) to inside a device main body (11); a crushing unit (12) that crushes the items to be processed (O) supplied by the supply port for items to be processed (30), using a hammer (20) rotated by a drive shaft (24); and a classification unit (13) having air that circulates through the items to be processed (O) crushed by the crushing unit (12), at a position separated from the crushing unit (12). The crushing and drying device (10) has a configuration whereby: the crushing unit (12) has a drying air supply port (40) that supplies heated air (A) in a prescribed direction along the inside surface of the device main body (11); the classification unit (13) has a discharge section (15) that discharges both the heated air (A) supplied from the crushing unit (12) and the crushed items to be processed (O), and a polarizing plate (60) that changes the flow of the heated air (A) together with the flow of the items to be processed transferred to the classification unit; and one machine is capable of both crushing in accordance with the items to be processed and drying the crushed items to be processed.
