<p>A method for producing a porous silica body disclosed in the present invention comprises: a step of preparing a starting material solution which contains a solvent and a silicon alkoxide that contains diisobutyl dimethoxysilane and tetramethoxysilane at such a mass ratio that the mass of the diisobutyl dimethoxysilane is from 0.25 to 1 relative to the mass of the tetramethoxysilane taken as 1; a step of obtaining a wet gel by adding an aqueous solution, which contains a catalyst for accelerating hydrolysis and polycondensation of the silicon alkoxide and has a pH of 8.9-11.3 (inclusive), to the starting material solution; a step of cleaning the wet gel; and a step of drying the cleaned wet gel under supercritical conditions.</p>
