<p>The method involves machining a convex inner flank (21.1) and a concave outer flank (22.1) of a bevel gear (20.1) simultaneously using inner cutting edges (13.1) and outer cutting edges (14.1), where the edges are arranged at inner and outer cutters (13, 14) of a universal hobbing tool (10). The outer flank is mill finish pre-machined using the outer cutting edges such that the inner cutting edges are not applied to the inner flank of the gear.
