<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure which can reduce the volume of a honeycomb structure and ensures high strength and a low pressure drop. <P>SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure 10 includes a ceramic block 13 in which a plurality of honeycomb fired bodies 110, comprising a large capacity cell and a small capacity cell are united via an adhesive layer, wherein the area of a cross section of the large capacity cell perpendicular to the longitudinal direction is larger than the area of a cross section of the small capacity cell perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, wherein the end of any one of the large capacity cell and the small capacity cell is sealed. The opening ratio of a cross section of the honeycomb structure perpendicular to the longitudinal direction in the central part is ≥65%, and the ratio of the opening ratio of the first end face to the opening ratio of the second end face is ≥1.4. The thickness of the cell wall except for the peripheral walls of the honeycomb fired bodies is 0.1 to <0.2 mm, the diameter D of the honeycomb structure is ≥200 mm, and the ratio of the length L to the diameter is ≤1.0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
