<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion device that has a short wiring distance between protection circuits and switching means. <P>SOLUTION: A power conversion device 3 for directly converting polyphase AC power to AC power includes: a conversion circuit having a plurality of first switching means 311, 313, 315 connected to respective phases R, S, T of the polyphase AC power and capable of two-way conduction switching, and a plurality of second switching means 312, 314, 316 connected to the respective phases and capable of two-way conduction switching; input lines R, S, T connected to respective input terminals of each of the plurality of first switching means and the plurality of second switching means; output lines P, N connected to respective output terminals of the plurality of first switching means and the plurality of second switching means; and protection circuits 32 connected respectively to the first switching means and the second switching means.
