<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarbonate resin capable of producing a transparent film having excellent temperature stability, unlikely to have defects from foreign objects or air bubbles caused by heat during melt film formation, unlikely to have discoloration of the film, and having little fluctuation in phase-difference even after long periods of use under high-temperature conditions. <P>SOLUTION: This polycarbonate resin includes a structural unit derived from a dihydroxy compound having a fluorene skeleton, a structural unit derived from a dihydroxy compound having an isosorbide skeleton, and a structural unit derived from a dihydroxy compound represented by one of formulas (3)-(6). The content of the structural unit derived from the dihydroxy compound represented by formulas (3)-(6) is at least 0.1 wt.% but less than 4.5 wt.% of the total amount of the structural unit derived from the dihydroxy compound in the polycarbonate resin.
