WORM SPEED REDUCTION MECHANISM AND UNIVERSAL HEAD DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal head device capable of smoothly carrying out pan tilt operation without backlash adjustment.

SOLUTION: A worm speed reduction mechanism is formed of a first housing for pivotally supporting a worm wheel; a second housing fixed on the first housing. The second housing includes: a motor; a motor shaft; a worm; a worm shaft integrally rotating with the worm; two bearings rotatably holding the worm shaft; a worm holder holding the worm shaft via the bearings; a first urging member for urging the worm shaft in an axial direction; a flexible coupling transmitting rotation from the motor shaft to the worm shaft and allowing angle deviation and axial deviation; and a second urging member in which one end is fixed to the second housing and the opposite other end is fixed to the worm holder and made of a flexible material. The worm shaft is inclined with respect to the motor shaft with the flexible coupling as a fulcrum.
