An exhaust gas control apparatus for an internal combustion engine (1) is equipped with an exhaust gas control member (31) that is provided in an exhaust passage (26), an addition agent supply mechanism (5) that supplies an addition agent to the exhaust gas control member (31), an exhaust gas recirculation mechanism (13) that recirculates exhaust gas to an intake passage, and a control unit (25) that controls a recirculation amount of exhaust gas recirculated by the exhaust gas recirculation mechanism (13) on the basis of an engine operation state. When a clogging amount at a front end face of the exhaust gas control member (31) has exceeded a predetermined threshold (a), the control unit (25) reduces the recirculation amount to a value that is smaller than when the clogging amount has not exceeded the threshold(a).
