A hole stabilizer used together with a perforator for providing and maintaining an opening through a patient's skin surface provides short or long-term external access to the patient's trachea or bloodstream. A hole stabilizer constitutes a passageway for fluid having a part formed as a tube having a first end positioned at an outer available position during use and a second end positioned at an inner non-available position during use and comprising fixing elements at two separated positions placed with the distance M between them in a use position. Further, the hole stabilizer comprises an inner layer constituting a tube and an outer layer constituting the fixing elements, which fixing elements are brought to expand diametrically when the outer layer is reduced in length relative to the inner layer. Methods of creating and maintaining a passageway from outside an air-filled cavity to the air-filled cavity are disclosed. |
