<p>An organic electroluminescent element which comprises: a substrate; a pair of electrodes, namely a positive electrode and a negative electrode, arranged on the substrate; and at least one organic layer arranged between the electrodes and comprises a light emitting layer. At least one light emitting layer contains a compound represented by general formula (1-1). This organic electroluminescent element has high luminous efficiency and excellent blue color purity, while being suppressed in chromaticity change associated with driving deterioration. (In general formula (1-1), each of R1-R10 represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, and at least one of R1-R10 represents a substituent represented by general formula (1-2). In this connection, R1-R10 do not contain a pyrene skeleton. In general formula (1-2), * represents the bonding position to a pyrene ring; each of X1-X5 represents a carbon atom or a nitrogen atom, and at least one of X1-X5 represents a nitrogen atom; and each of R11-R15 represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, and at least one of R11-R15 represents an alkyl group or a silyl group.
